THE COMPANY: Ring rolled products world leader
ArcelorMittal Ringmill (AMR) is a subsidiary of the ArcelorMittal Group (the worldwide leader in steel production and transformation) and is specialized in the manufacturing and heat processing of ring rolled products.
ArcelorMittal Ringmill’s organizational efficiency, expertise and carefully selected suppliers guarantee constant high quality products with a production process that meet the strictest environmental standards.
ArcelorMittal Ringmill (AMR) has become the leading supplier for a large international customer base through its know-how and dynamism. Its customers include the major world manufacturers of slewing rings and gear boxes.
The origins and know-how of ArcelorMittal Ringmill date back to the 19th century. At that time, steel forging activities at Cockerill S.A. offered a wide range of forged products, and especially tyres for railway wheels. This tyre production was instrumental in the development of its steel forging division’s ring rolling expertise and know-how.
In 1984 the forging and rolling activities were transferred to subsidiaries and the company Cockerill Forges & Ringmill S.A. was created. During the following years, CFR exclusively developed its ring rolling activities through constant investment in innovative and high-performance tools.
In 1998 CFR’s parent company, Cockerill S.A., became part of Usinor.
In 2002 CFR became a subsidiary of the Arcelor Group, following a merger between Usinor, Arbed and Aceralia.
In 2006 the Mittal Steel Company bought Arcelor and Cockerill Forges & Ringmill was integrated into the Global Plates division of ArcelorMittal Group.
In 2008 Cockerill Forges & Ringmill became ArcelorMittal Ringmill, the only plant of the Group specialized in ring rolling.
